Two years of Memoru, and what we took from it
We shipped it, launched it, and eventually walked away. Here's what actually happened.

Memoru shipped. That part is true and we're proud of it: a flashcard app, live on iOS, Android, and web, with a Product Hunt launch and a handful of users who actually used it.
What's also true: it never found its audience, and at some point the updates slowed, then stopped. Somewhere amidst our busy lives, we finally decided that it wasn't worth chasing after it anymore.
That's a different kind of ending than a failed project. We finished the app. We just didn't love it enough to keep going when the numbers weren't there to push us. The app store versions have been removed because we have stopped providing updates. However, the web app still runs at web.memoru.io if you're interested.
It taught us that shipping is a skill, and we had to learn it somewhere. Memoru was that somewhere. It also taught us that passion for the craft isn't enough. You have to care about the problem you're solving. Multi-Sided-Flashcards were a fine problem. They just weren't our problem.
